Grumpy is great, leave him alone. If you don't like his column then DON'T READ IT.
He's got more sense than the whole of Sh*te Hart Lane put together.
He's so grumpy we thought we'd give him his own page to get it all off his chest and (maybe) cheer him up......
Probably not though!!!
ABYSMAL DISPLAY LEAVES NO ROOM FOR EXCUSES. I SAY YET AGAIN, TIME FOR YOU TO GO MR.WENGER.
ARSENAL 0-2 ASTON VILLA

What a sporting tragedy is taking place at our marvellous new home Ashburton Grove. When we moved in just over a couple of years ago we had a marvellous team, full of marvellous players with expectations sky high. We had a manager who had created a superb team crammed with world class players, and he truly was one of the best.
Sadly, all the adoration, sycophancy and praise turned his head. He believed whatever decision he made was right and nobody knew better. He let the likes of Viera, Bergkamp, Henry, Pires, Llungberg, Flamini, Gilberto etc go without finding adequate or comparable replacements.
We now have a raft of mediocrity in Sylvestre, Denilson, Eboue, Bendtner, Song, Adebeyor, with others who seem to be so demotivated they are going backwards: Fabregas, Van Persie, Nasri and even Walcott after yesterday's display.
We have some fantastic youngsters, as witnessed against Wigan, (Ramsey, Wilshere, Gibbs etc), but they continue to remain down the pecking order behind the dross.
A manager is the first to take the praise when his side achieves and he should stand up and take it on the chin when they do not perform. There is no mystery to what is happening at the Grove, the answer is simple. The manager is arrogant. He believes he can do without any player who may get a little too big for his size 9s and create a new one just as good to replace him. This may be possible at Hereford United, but not at the very top.
While Nero fiddles, Rome burns. We are now clearly not a top three side. Chelsea, Man. Utd. (despite the gargantuan effort the team made last week) and Liverpool are all far better than us, and as I said before the season began, we will struggle to qualify for the Champions League next season unless major surgery is undertaken.
Villa were clearly a better side than us yesterday, and despite two disgraceful goals conceded, allowed by an equally disgraceful referee, (will we aver see a "homer"?), and with Manchester City set to be a new major player on the scene, and still others, dare I say, the Sp*rs included, we are in crisis. This is our equivalent of the credit crunch. The board must act now or it will be too late and will be relegated to the status of second-raters.
Yesterday, as with the Hull game, we were second best. How can Denilson and Bendtner continue to be selected? In fact the writing was on the wall when I saw the team selection. One front man - and Bendtner at that - against Villa at home! Poor Diaby does not know where his is supposed to play - up front supporting the hapless Dane, left side mid-field (shrewd move Arsene for a right-footed player) or central midfield, clearly his best position.
Fabregas had his worst game ever. He never could take a free kick or a corner (which ain't that difficult), and he and Denilson were simply awful. Sylvestre is yet another mediocre centre-half that can join our already long list in that position, and Nasri seems to only wake-up after he scores in a game. Theo was never in it - they never want to pass to him - but on the rare occasions he was, his final delivery was poor. I cannot even begin to write about the disgraceful performance of Bendtner and Denilson in detail, it sickens me so.
We talk about the transfer window. If the manager does invest we all know it will be 20 year old African or Frenchman that nobody has ever heard of that will be one for the future. There was a time when he would go out and buy an Overmars or an Henry, great players that were having a bad time at their current clubs - there are still plenty out there Arsene.
That said, as a boss of mine once said to me, "that particular train has left the station". Wenger has taken this team and club as far as he can. He did a great job in the past, but now should move on. I have heard people say, "who could replace him?". Look no further than the equally intelligent manager of the team that beat us yesterday. O'Neill blends home grown youth with purchases, and has the respect of all his team, who have a superb work ethic and his track record is excellent.
The immediate future looks very bleak - the odd game where we can defeat an old enemy like the mob from Old Titford is simply a big blip in a downward spiral. Older heads like mine, (Stan the Man and AS from Cambridge, for example), have long memories and can remember other managers, other crises.Act soon please, and as one Gooner said to me yesterday after the match "fall on your sword now, Arsene".
A very gloomy,
Grumpy Old Gooner

What a load of old tosh!
'Bendtner' - Hes never player lone Striker before the Utd match. Never had a ball played to him in 90 mins worth chasing v the Villa. Hes 20!
'Didn't pass to Theo?' He was our 'best' (said reservedly) player on a bad day all round. Did you actually go to the match and if you did, had you pulled yr hat over your eyes?
'Plenty of the likes of Ovemars' out there eh? Where? AW has a world wide scouting network and can't find one, yet GOG can find plenty!
'O Neills excellent record'. You mean 7th in the Prem with Leicester and a few titles in Scotland do you?
'Past bosses' - Yes, many of us recall Neill and Howe and Rioch and even old Billy Wright too. A crisis? What crisis? You dont know the meaning of the word. 12 years of almost unfaltering success, CL for 11 of them. A revamped Club. New ground. New wealth in the not too distant future. A superb set of players, yes, with some who won't make it all of the way to the top admittedly. A stable Club and a board who care. Traning facilties matched nowhere else. The widely held recognition that the manner in which we play the game is almost the match of football played anywhere else. Yes, we slip up and have really bad days. So do Utd and Chelsea. So did Brazil!!
Youre like a great many glory hunters who go to Arsenal these days. A few bad times and yr on somebody's back. Anybodys back! To slate Wenger and demand him out at the first time he has had troubles is sickening!
Its dead easy to slag off this player or that or another whenever it suits you, calling him useless and feckless. Do you have the slightest, even the remotest idea or even an inkling of what it takes to become a top pro? No. I thought not.
'Fans' like you and the other meatheads you refer too 'Stan the man' indeed (whoever he is) are 10 a penny. Why not grump and grizzle yr way to over Harry s revolution at the Spuds or maybe go get yr two tickets for the price of one at the Bridge. They would welcome you with open arms mate! Let the real supporters support and back the Arsenal when they most need it. Like now.
I suppose you're one of the boo boys at half time this season are you fella?
Being a so called old stager doesnt mean you have the monopoly on viewpoints and surely doesnt stop you looking at it and taking a realistic perspective does it? Take a pill matey. Wenger sure doesn't need this shite right now!
I'm starting to grump (is that a new verb ?) due to this dire performance. Indeed the seeds were sown at Stoke but the tonic of the Utd result and the kids on Tuesday night stopped me going into full grump mode.
However that has now changed.
The passing game is all very pretty to watch and a joy to behold when it works - as per Nasri's second last week.
But when it dosen't and the team struggle to string a single pass together - let alone two - as was the case on Saturday - then the system does not produce results - i.e goals !
A Plan B when the strikers are injured / suspended would be nice...as would the odd shot on goal.
Keep on Rockin.
nicely said gg. what a fantastic midfield. i enjoyed the wigan game almost as much as beating manuare. cant believe the pace and fire these lads have. ramsey is ready to push for the first team and your right about vela, he is so much better than bentner in every way. you can see his confidence in front of goal. awsome. i loved arsene's comment on why he took wiltshire off, it was past his bedtime, funny. it was also nice to see the first team in attendance giving their support. can they follow that? we shall see. up the gunners, come on you mighty reds, viva la vela, and dont forget gg, ARSENE KNOWS.
one arsene wenger theres only one arsene wenger.....need i say more
Grumpy is so right. Why did Arsene let me go? Why did he let Patrick and Matthieu go...and Robert?
He has indeed "lost it" and a new face needs to be intoduced at the top.
TH
Why all the having a go at Grumpy? It is true we have a great bank balance (relatively speaking), play the best football, but look no more like winning anything than we have for the past few seasons. Keep it up, Grumps!
This is my last message on this forum....I really really hope that GOG packs his bags up and goes home. I dont want to hear any more crap negativity from one person ....after being witness to a startling performance tonight he should be ashamed at the comments he has made about AW....we have the best manager in the world and tonight a young team that played with zest and vitality...get a life GOG and go support the spuds...
PLease Arsenal Supporters club remove GOG's page because it serves no purpose whatsoever but to rile fans who see beyone the blinkered image ..
Sorry guys but I dont get it with gog....we can all have a moan and submit our opinions on how good or bad Arsenal are but I get a bit fed up with one persons rant at Arsene Wenger ... the best thing that has happened to Arsenal since 1989.
So for goodness sake I hope the West Mids Supporters Club delete this page and let us all get on with supporting the best club in the land and keep our opinions to our selves ......grrrrrrrrrrrr...
Hey GOG
How do you like the taste of hat! although i agree with you in some aspects i fear that you are going to end up with piles of hats on your plate, never mind you can always pour some more sweet & sour and sauce but without the sweet over them and if that doesn't take the taste away how about washing it down with some more bitter!.
Keep up the good work GOG...if you like hat.
arsene knows that if fit and on form, { apart from a defensive mid} we are as good if not better than our rivals. he knows that we are short on backup. alonso for £17 million! no thanks. dont think he shuold have sold gilberto, nazri, ramsey, diaby, denilson, wiltshire, fab, rosicky, theo, silvestra {maybe?} eboue, bischoff is what we have, not too shabby i would say. as a wise man once said {me} if you have no faith no hope no belief, you must be a spurs fan. love you all see you soon. keep the faith.
I have to agree with Grumpy. A great team has been slowly but surely left to die.
